What Is Post-Op Lymphatic Drainage?
Lymphatic drainage after surgery helps to alleviate swelling by gently stimulating and enhancing the flow of lymph fluid throughout the body. This makes it an ideal therapy for individuals who have undergone cosmetic surgery, as swelling is a natural part of the body's healing process.
Why Is Lymphatic Drainage Massage So Important Following Surgery?
Lymphatic drainage therapy after a surgical procedure can aid in the healing of damaged lymph vessels, restore proper flow, and promote vitality in the affected area and overall health. By reconnecting interrupted routes and creating new pathways where necessary, this therapy can significantly reduce pain, discomfort, and swelling following surgery

Lymphatic Drainage Is Recommended 2-16 Weeks After Surgery, And Should Be Performed Regularly As You Heal For Best Results.
All Lymphatic Drainage sessions are 60 minutes long, an additional time can be added for clients with bigger procedures or desired.

Invest in Post-Op Treatment for
Faster Recovery and Optimal Results
Regular treatments in the first three months after cosmetic surgery helps to ensure optimal results and reduce healing time. Generally, the earlier, firmer, and more frequently you get treatment, the better the results and less painful the area will be.
What is a Post-Operative Treatment?
A post-op treatment is a unique method that is useful to have after cosmetic surgery to boost recovery. After cosmetic surgeries like liposuction, a tummy tuck, or arm, thigh, and Brazilian butt lifts, the lymphatic channels are disrupted and takes about two to three months to make new connections. The lymphatic fluids accumulated after surgery also lead to swelling and hardening.
When should I begin MLD after surgery:
We recommend started MLD 3-5 days post-liposuction (fat-transfer included) and 7-10 days post-tummy tuck/mommy-makeover.
5-12 sessions are recommended depending on the area, procedure, and the recovering process which is different for each individual. Patient's who get multiple procedures done at once will require more sessions.
Benefits of Post-Op Treatment After Surgery:
Post-operative treatment therapy is tailored to help recovery and limit problems. Here are some of the benefits you can expect.
Tissue Repair
Helps promote circulation and blood flow throughout your body and primarily in the area that was treated. This improvement of circulation allows for nutrients to easily be brought to certain areas. With the increase of nutrients, soft tissues have an easier time in repairing.
Reduction of Scar Tissue
When your muscles are relaxed during a post-op treatment, it helps decrease the chance of scar tissue forming. In addition, it can also help break up scar tissue that has already formed and promote healing and regeneration of these problem areas.
Accelerated Healing
With better blood flow and oxygen given to your vital organs and tissues, you can help your body to become more flexible, and thus regenerate and heal faster than without the treatment. For those who are looking to accelerate their pot-op downtime and to return to their normal life, then treatment is the perfect treatment option for them.
Different Types Of Treatments:
There are a few different types of treatment that we offer here at Inland Empire Sculpting. Depending on which plastic surgery procedure you received and the amount of pain you’re in, we will choose the best option for you to help you heal faster.
Lymphatic Drainage
Lymphatic drainage (LDM) involves the careful movement of excess fluid from your lymph nodes elsewhere. Commonly after surgery is performed, lymph nodes tend to swell and become filled with fluid. This can become extremely uncomfortable, and even painful, if not addressed. Indeed, in some cases, if the lymph nodes are left to become inflamed and swollen, it might even cause problems with mobility. LDM is designed to drain this excess fluid. A thorough treatment of certain areas of the body with a certain amount of pressure will see it done. By so doing, the lymph nodes are left clear, and your body can heal and recover faster than otherwise.
Transverse Friction
In this technique, the goal is to help reduce or remove scar tissue. By applying careful pressure to a targeted area, the therapist can work to remove the scar tissue which will allow the body to heal. By so doing, a considerable amount of pain or discomfort can be removed.
Risks And Precautions
As with all post-operative recovery techniques, care should be taken when pursuing a post-op treatment. Don’t schedule an appointment too quickly after surgery. As such, you should speak both with your doctor and a certified post-op specialist to determine when is the best time for you to begin post-op treatments.
Just like attempting to run after hip surgery, you don’t want to overdo it. Be sure that you tell your therapist of any problem areas that you’ve noticed, particularly areas of pain or inflammation. Not only can this help them plan out an effective treatment, but they can ensure they do not cause you further pain.
Easy, Soothing, Relief
A treatment can be excellent for a post-op procedure. With careful application, you can enjoy an easy and relaxing experience to boost your post-op recovery.
